This is the website of Fr Tony Noble, a retired Anglican priest. I grew up in Adelaide & after 10 years working in 3 jobs went to London in 1974 on a typical Aussie working holiday. It was a wonderful time in my life as I enjoyed living & working in London. Whilst in the UK I visited the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham several times. It was when I went on a pilgrimage there in February 1975 that I felt called to the priesthood. I subsequently returned to Australia, entered St Barnabas College in 1976 & was ordained to the priesthood in 1980. My 1st parish was St Catherine’s, Elizabeth Downs – a parish threatened with closure. It was an exciting time for me as I built the parish up. In 1984 I was invited to be the Vicar of St Mark’s, Fitzroy, in Melbourne & was inducted on January 25th, 1985. I enjoyed the move to Melbourne & had an amazing & wonderful 18 years there. During this time I made regular visits to the USA & UK. In 2003 I was invited to be Rector of All Saints’, San Diego, California. It was a big move to yet another parish that needed building up. I loved living in San Diego & exploring the USA. After 8 very happy years I retired as Rector of All Saints’ Church in 2011 – returning to be celebrant & preacher for the church’s centenary on June 10th, 2012. Upon my retirement the parish honoured me with the title of Rector Emeritus.
To commemorate the centenary of All Saints’ Church, a history of the parish was published in 2012. The author, Dr Stephen Cox, has kindly given me permission to publish on this website the chapter which records my ministry as Rector. Please go to the βParishesβ Β link at top right of this page & click on βAll Saints, San Diegoβ.
In July 2012 I moved into my present home in St Kilda, Melbourne, which I had bought for my retirement back in 1995. I am enjoying being back in Melbourne – & following my football team, Port Adelaide! Since my retirement I assisted at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham & the C of E diocese in Europe until 2016. I was the Anglican priest in Heidelberg, Germany, for Lent & Easter 2012, on the staff at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in October 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015, & priest-in-residence at the House of the Redeemer, NYC in June 2013 & 2014. In July 2015 I was the Anglican priest in Genoa, Italy – another fascinating experience. In June 2016 I was locum at St Thomas a’Beckett church, Hamburg. Once again I enjoyed living in a German city & exploring the area.
In January 2012 I was appointed a member of the advisory board of Global Traveler magazine, a US travel magazine, & this was a nice extension of my love of travel. My life as an Anglican priest is recorded on this website, & my Blog continues to be updated as I enjoy my travels π
A bookmark given to me a few years ago has words which are so appropriate to my life now:
Lord, help me to accept the changes in my life. And to find in them blessings from you.
